The first and best news, Tonia is home. Teaching herself to mend in order to stave off boredom, and providing a lap for grateful pets who are as relieved that she is home as I am.
I’m using Susie Myer’s method for working contiguous set in sleeves in a top down sweater. And it’s brilliant. After considering pops of colour in teal, and actually knitting the mustard yellow, on the final version I went for the bright green. Turns out, I am going to make a bra that matches. More on this in an upcoming episode.
You can learn the contiguous technique by knitting a mini-me version of the sweater that will likely fit a teddy or a doll or a fairy. From these examples you can see that the key to good fit is an accurate row gauge, in order to get the length of the shoulders spot on. I’m going to be playing with this technique for some time to come.
